The Geological Society of London was founded in 1807. It’s the UK national society for geoscience and the oldest geological society in the world.
National History Museum
This well renowned museum contains a large geological gallery containing rocks and mineral displays as well as the famous dinosaur collection. Included in the exhibits are the marine reptiles found by the famous British fossil collector
The greatest fossil hunter ever known was a woman from Lyme Regis, called Mary Anning who made some remarkable finds of marine reptiles along what is now called the Jurassic Coast. Mary Anning was the inspiration for the well-known tongue twister `She sells seashells on the seashore’.
